Residential Driveways

[Parking lots] [Driveways] [Subdivisions] [WVDOH Highway] [Repair]

One of the most important investments you can make in the appearance of your home is the installation of a paved driveway.  However, all driveways are not created equal.

The drawing to the right shows a typical new driveway cross section.  This is a minimum for new construction and may need to be modified for poor soils and increased loads - such as a motor home or farm equipment.  This section will provide good performance at a reasonable cost.

Existing driveways are approached a bit differently.  Three conditions which are critical to a paved driveway's success are:
  1. Drainage - does water drain toward garage or other structures and does it pond on the driveway?
  2. Subbase condition - does the driveway soften after a moderate rainstorm and is the stone base thin and nonexistent in some areas?
  3. Vegetation - are the edges of the driveway uneven and filled with grass and weeds?

Grading, base stabilization and herbicide treatment are performed as required on all our driveways.  We also use only WVDOH Certified Hot Mix Asphalt to assure a consistent surface texture and the highest possible performance.

Each project is different...some may require only minor grading before paving.  Others may need substantial base stabilization, weed control and new construction.  Our estimators are skilled at assessing your driveway's condition and determining the best solution to a great looking and lasting product.  Give us a call at 304-263-3327, ext. 120 to schedule an appointment.
