Concrete Fibers

Synthetic Fibers

Natural fibers have been used for thousands of years to reinforce brick, concrete and other building products. PCI's line of synthetic fibers by PGI Products are designed for the 21st century. The benefits include:

  • Reduction in shrinkage cracking. Fibers help inhibit cracking by providing an internal support mechanism for the plastic concrete.
  • Consistency of reinforcement. Wire mesh tends to end up at the bottom of the slab unless special effort is made. Fibers are incorporated throughout the slab.
  • Labor Costs. Adding fiber at the ready mix plant saves labor by eliminating the time required to install wire mesh.

PCI offers two main types of synthetic fibers:

For commercial projects that specify steel fibers, we offer Strux® 90/40 as a replacement option.
